Historians say that amaranth is the croup to which the Indians sacrificed human beings. And no, it was not at all necessary because it is extremely difficult to cultivate this crop. It is just that the ancient Indians considered schiritsu to be such a valuable product that they were ready to give their lives for it.
Maya, Aztecs and Incas called amaranth exclusively “gift of the gods”, he was honored and worshiped. When the Christianization and colonization of the indigenous peoples of North America began, the destruction of local cultures occurred. Fortunately, it was not possible to remove everything, so today we can enjoy such an amazing plant as shchiritsa: its taste, unusual and usefulness.
Once you are on our site, most likely, you know that amaranth can (and should) be eaten. Today we analyze a few more recipes for the preparation of this amazing plant.
