Amaranth oil and infusions are successfully used in the treatment of various dental diseases. We have repeatedly mentioned that amaranth can help in the treatment of periodontal disease, but they will be discussed in the second part of the material. Today’s part is devoted to no less common dental phenomenon – inflammation of the gums or, as it is called in medical practice, gingivitis.
Amaranth oil with a slight inflammation of the gums
Theoretically, the complex of elements contained in amaranth oil is able to cope with any minor and even medium-significant inflammatory process in the open and close to the gigiena-rta-i-osmotrosurface of the oral tissues. In practice, this is not always feasible, because one way or another, a person eats food that contains irritating inflammatory part of the substance and thereby inhibits healing. And it is known that the longer the inflammatory process lasts, the more difficult it is to stop (that is why chronic gingivitis, and other diseases, is much more difficult to cure than acute, but “disposable”).
But if the inflammatory process is caused by, say, a minor injury, and not an infection, and especially a third-party pathology, and is not delayed, then the trip to the dentist can be postponed and cope with the inflammation yourself with amaranth oil. This applies to the following cases:
If a hard food element gets into the interdental space, it strongly pushes the gum or periodontal tissue (on the tissue that holds the tooth in the gum), resulting in a small area (up to 1 cm in diameter) that has become inflamed.
If the peri-tooth space was injured by a sharp, but clean object (fish bone in a thermally treated fish, for example).
Important! If the injury was caused by a foreign object, the purity of which is in doubt, you should not treat it only with amaranth – it is better to go to the dentist and make sure that no infection was in the gum.
If the inflammation has developed due to the use of a large amount of food that irritates the mucous membrane (very spicy, very salty, very sweet, sweet carbonated liquids, etc.).
If there is a single “pimple” on the mucous membrane (usually happens after something not very clean gets into your mouth; for example, it often happens in children who have a habit of constantly putting fingers or toys into their mouths).
Also amaranth will help in the treatment of minor inflammations around microtraumas – cracks, ulcers, etc.
How to treat minor amaranth inflammation
If we are talking about one of the listed cases or the like, then you first need to clean the mouth and the damaged area. It is advisable to do this as soon as possible, because bacteria, food debris, dust that enters the air in a matter of time get on the affected tissues and can increase inflammation.
Be careful when cleaning! The damaged area can not be rubbed with a hard toothbrush. If the inflammation is not very strong, it is enough to gently hold it several times without a pressure with a soft brush in different directions. If the inflammation is severe, it is better to use a cotton swab.
Then you should thoroughly rinse your mouth, paying special attention to the affected area. For rinsing, you can use amaranth infusion, and you can also use other liquids that have the same effect in this case (5688745-0304) (for example, soda solution at the rate of 1 tsp. Soda per 200 ml of water or moderately concentrated chamomile extract).
Next, amaranth oil is applied to a cotton swab. Cotton wool should not be barely wet, oil should be clearly visible on the surface. The swab is applied to the affected area. You can press it with your teeth, tongue or other dry cotton swab, if it is difficult to hold it with your teeth and tongue for a long time.
The tampon soaked in amaranth oil should be kept for at least 20 minutes. The first few times it is desirable to repeat the procedure immediately, putting a new tampon on the inflamed area.
With this treatment, the most important are regularity and the absence of annoying factors. It is usually recommended to make lotions on the first day every 1.5-2 hours. On the second day, if the inflammation has not disappeared, but passes, the gap can be increased to 2.5-3 hours. Eating food in the process of treatment is desirable less often, and the food itself should not be too acidic, spicy, salty. It is also desirable that it does not contain preservatives.
Usually the weakest inflammations disappear in a couple of days, and a little stronger in three, the maximum (with reduced immunity, the consumption of unhealthy food) – four. If inflammation does not go away within five days, you should still go to the dentist.
Amaranth oil with medium and severe gingivitis
More severe cases of inflammation of the gums are usually either caused by an intractable infection, or are a complication of other serious diseases (diabetes, measles, diphtheria, etc.). In the first case, they are treated with medication, in the second – the main attention is paid to the disease that provoked gingivitis. Naturally, amaranth here can not be the main drug, but it can help.
Amaranth for infectious gingivitis
In the case when gum inflammation is caused by severe infections, the patient is prescribed, in addition to antibiotics, a number of anti-inflammatory drugs. In order not to overload the stomach and liver with a large number of medicines, anti-inflammatory, if the clinical picture allows, are selected from folk remedies. Traditionally, there are two of them:
- camomile flowers;
- Amaranth oil.
Chamomile is used more as a general cleanser with an anti-inflammatory effect, because it is ineffective to keep swabs with it near the site of inflammation: the chamomile extract is not concentrated enough for to have a powerful anti-inflammatory effect. Lotion with amaranth oil, by contrast, can produce a strong effect on localized inflammation.
Since medium gingivitis affects the area up to 3-4 cm, and the heavy ones can affect more than half of the oral cavity, cotton swabs are impregnated with amaranth oil entirely and placed in the mouth so that as much of the tampon as possible touches the gum, including healthy parts of it. The latter avoids the spread of gingivitis.
The method of preparing the oral cavity for treatment with amaranth oil is the same as in the treatment of minor inflammations.
Amaranth for gingivitis complications
When gingivitis is a consequence of another disease, lotions are ineffective because there is no localized nidus, as in the case of infection. In this case, dentists recommend general therapy with amaranth infusion to reduce edema and normalize blood circulation.
Amaranth infusion: preparation and use
Infusion is prepared at the rate of 15 g of crushed amaranth per glass of water. Amaranth is poured with boiling water and kept for about 15-20 minutes in a water bath. The resulting liquid is used to rinse the mouth in accordance with the advice of the dentist. It is usually recommended to carry out the procedure every 2-3 hours, each time before and after meals, as well as in the morning immediately after waking up and immediately before going to bed. If the patient has the habit of waking up at night, it is useful to rinse your mouth and at this time.
We have previously described in detail the process of rinsing the oral cavity infusion of amaranth for preventive reasons. In the case of gingivitis, the process is no different. The main thing is that the infusion “passes” through all the affected areas, including those that are difficult to reach (especially them, because most of the dust and food residues accumulate there).
Note! The amaranth brew used to treat gingivitis as a rinse should be moderately warm, but in no case hot or cold. The cold will produce a vasoconstrictor effect, as a result of which the blood circulation will slow down. Hot, in turn, can not reduce the swelling, and strengthen it.
By the way, if the doctor prescribed antibiotics or other highly toxic drugs, you can clarify if is combined with an amaranth infusion. Most likely, the doctor will confirm that amaranth does not create any interference with the active substances contained in the preparations. In this case, it is advisable to drink a glass of amaranth infusion two or three times a day to improve the functioning of the kidneys and liver, since the load from highly toxic medications on these organs is usually quite strong. This advice is applicable not only in the case of dental diseases, but also any other.
